Whether you are self-employed or a professional, a doctor or a lawyer, a Linkedin profile is a must and in this blog post, I will share a few easy tips on how to use Linkedin effectively.

Linkedin

First, please understand why Linkedin is one of the most important tools for all. Globally, more than 700 million people use the power of the platform to boost their careers and skills.

In India alone, the platform has more than 60 million members.

Linkedin can help you connect with people worldwide, who may or may not belong to your profession directly, but could add value to your knowledge.

Thousands of professionals are able to find jobs through Linkedin.

Linkedin serves as a solution for job seekers, marketers, human resource professionals, writers, career counselors, and many more.

You may be any one of the above, and the platform has a lot to offer if you know how to use it efficiently.

1. Optimise your Profile

Linkedin Profile Picture

The first thing you should do before you decide to connect with professionals is to Optimise your Linkedin profile.

Get yourself a professional profile picture, write a few lines about you that describe you the best, and get a good background photo.

The headline should be able to explain to all quickly what your forte is. The headline should always have keywords, like SEO expert, career coach, and more.

Also, do write all your achievements, your roles, and responsibilities, plus add all the skills that you have.

Mention your passions, and motives in the About section.

2. Understand your Audience and Connect

If you are straight out of the university and looking for your first job, or you are a professional seeking change in your career, you must know who you need to connect to.

This is called your Target Audience. In this case, the target audience can include human resource managers, leaders of a company, etcetera.

Choose the right Target Audience

But, in case you are a marketer and would like to connect fellow marketers from other companies or regions, your target audience changes.

Knowing your target audience is a must to succeed in making meaningful connections on Linkedin.

3. Create Content

Your presence on Linkedin is not enough. You need to be vocal to be noticed.

Create high-quality content

Linkedin is a very powerful tool, but you should know how to use the power.

Create good quality content, write posts, and comment on other’s content to get noticed.

The more you write, the more you will be able to connect and build your personal brand.

Remember, there can be many from the same profession as you are, but not all are able to build a brand for themselves. You can!

4. Keywords are Important

While writing about yourself, or elaborating your roles, do not forget to mention keywords that are popular. Keywords are the popular words that people search for.

Whatever you write about yourself, it must have keywords. It will enable your profile to be searched easily.

Use Keywords on Linkedin

In one of my blog posts https://wisdomblogging.com/how-to-do-keyword-research-for-seo/, I tried to explain how to do keyword research.

You should read the above post if you are not very clear on finding good keywords.

5. Connection Requests

Everyone on Linkedin sends connection requests to relevant people. But, the most important thing is how to send these requests.

It is very easy to click on the connection send request button. But, do you know, 50% of the time, chances are people will not accept your invite.

This is not because they do not want to connect, but because you did not specify the reason to connect.

If you want to give a human connection to your request, you should write a personalized note when you send a request.

Do mention why you want to connect. Is it for a job, or you like their work, or something else?

Personalized messages increase the chances that the person will accept your request.

These are a few basic and easy-to-do things that can improve your professional life to a great extent.

You must be a consistent content creator. No matter what you may miss, do not miss creating content on the platform.

I do not want to overwhelm you all. Therefore, I will write another piece on more about How to use Linkedin effectively.

If I am able to add value to you today, do not hesitate to share the blog post with all your friends, and please do leave your comments.

Thank you!
